FMLA – Family Medical Leave Act

FLMA

We are thrilled that you chose our practice to help you in this journey of pregnancy. We understand that pregnancy can be difficult. However, pregnancy is not considered a disability. The physical changes and symptoms of pregnancy can be difficult to deal with, but for the majority of women, it is perfectly safe to continue working.

There are certain indications where FMLA is used for pregnancy. Usually, FMLA is intended for your prenatal visits and post partum maternity leave. Occasionally, it is used in dire circumstances (when it is no longer safe for you to continue working during pregnancy), such as the conditions of pre-eclampsia, preterm labor, uncontrolled blood sugars, etc. With that being said, our office usually only completes FMLA forms for prenatal visits and post partum maternity leave. We do not write for intermittent leave (unless medically necessary). If you feel like leave is necessary, please call the office so we may evaluate you. If leave is permitted, we will give you a work excuse.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We look forward to caring for you and your child during this joyous time!
